He shakes his head no at that. "Um, so, you only attack... er... 'edible' people?" His mind protests that those are two words that should never be used together.

Unless they be tryin' ta kill me, aye. If they're tryin' ta kill me then I've reason ta kill them either way.

"Well, yeah..," Time can admit that kind of makes sense, but at the same time... he'd fled from Dr. Wily so he couldn't be forced to kill anyone, and it's a line he's never crossed. The closest he'd come was that crazy suicidal time-travel plan hatched out of desperation before he realized he actually could run away.

I wasn't made for peace and I was born into a world not far from hell in many and many-a way. I had no choices, say true.

"The only reason I was made was because Dr. Light had some kind of business deal with a watch company..." His barely dodged 'mascot' status still grates on him. At least the other Alphas were meant for important industrial work. He sighs. "Having no choices sucks. So does having only a few crappy ones and not being able to decide which is worse."

You say very true indeed. The same could be said o' havin' a purpose you're not sure ya agree with, too, mind. I'd rather the worlds not end just yet, after all; I've barely seen them yet!

"Yeah, well, I didn't agree with what either of my creators wanted. That's why I ran off... once I figured out that I could. But before I knew I could do that... well, that's what got me into the whole 'wipe all of us out of existance so none of us have to be treated like that' thing." There's a slight shrug as he adds, "I really wasn't in a good place at the time." Mentally or otherwise.

Ka be cruel, say true. At least you had somewhere ta go to, though. The only direction I had was away.

He shakes his head. "That was about it for me, too. I ended up hiding out here." He thinks back, to a displaced root cellar in an empty field in the Nexus. His slightly younger sibling, unstable, dangerous, and tied up for safety. Blankets swiped from Nexus couches. Food harder to find because of the risk of LOL... and they'd been lucky they'd been adapted to eat such things, because e-tanks were almost unheard of... They'd slept a lot, to save energy. And it had been a good thing they'd both been designed to be so small...

"Things happened while I was away, and for a while I thought most of the others were dead. I didn't find out they'd faked it for about a year."

They should've told ya, then, unless 'twas truly need-ta-know.

"Wasn't their fault. I didn't exactly leave a forwarding address, since they just would've had to tell the Old Man if he asked."

"It worked out in the end, but it was... just kind of a rough year. But it was all the stuff leading up to that, the whole mess..." he sighs. "I'm glad I didn't go through with it now. The whole 'Wipe all Robot Masters out of history' thing, I mean. Besides being batshit crazy... things did get better."

You're lucky, sai; for me dead has certainly been better.

Time sighs. "Look, the point I'm trying to get at is that, while dead might be better than a current situation, being dead doesn't get better. And if you stick it out, most of the time being alive can get better. Or at least better than being dead."

Being dead got better for me, didn't it? *Smirk.*

Time rolls his eyes at that. "This place being weird is an exception, not the rule." He grumbles that there needs to be a new word for being dead but not staying that way, because really dead means permanent.

I rather suspect it always be weird, actually.

"I meant that this place being weird about death is an exception to general rules about death. If you mean this place being weird, yeah, it always is. If you mean death... I'm in no hurry to find out, and I hope it never is when it comes to some people who need to stay dead." Dr. Wily and Weil are at the top of that mental list. He sighs. "I'm on the clock over at the diner in 15 minutes, so I'd better go..."
