Looking For A Lost Friend

Have a confused Marty wandering around the general question area, looking like he's searching for something -- or, rather, someone. "Where the hell -- okay, you know what? Place is for questions -- anybody seen Victor? He said he was going to 'clear his head' about an hour ago, and we thought he'd be back by now."

[For those curious, Victor does happen to be in the Nexus -- passed out on a rather large couch that Marty just hasn't come across yet, thanks to the weird way space and directions work in this place. Maybe it thought he needed the sleep]

It's a very nice change, sure, but the idea of my life up until now being written by someone else . . . yeah, fuck that.

You got any ideas about how your life, even part of it, could be a movie in another reality then? [He's not being a dick, he's genuinely curious]

[palmerthing]

If there are enough universes, maybe every story is true somewhere by sheer coincidence. Everything happens in infinity, right? Just because there's enough room for all of it.

[museicalmarty]

I'll give you that -- if the multiverse really DOES go on for ages and ages, then why shouldn't everything that's fictional in one universe be real somewhere else? Like you said, everything happens in infinity just 'cause it can. Doesn't matter how weird it is. [look at him, thinking fourth-dimensionally and all]

[palmerthing]

I'd say that thinking about it makes my brain hurt, except that that assumes a few things that aren't correct. *Such as Palmer having a brain still.*

[museicalmarty]

I think the trick is to just go with the flow. That's worked pretty well for me here. For all of our little weird family.

[palmerthing]

Right then, go with the flow it is. The weed should help.

[museicalmarty]

[he snorts] Yeah, if there's any group that's good with the flow, it's stoners.

We get hungry a lot, though, which might be a bit of an issue. *He looks around idly, possibly in the hope of a very lost squirrel or something.*

Yeaaaah. . .if there's something you don't need help with, it's getting hungry.

[palmerthing]

Guess I'll have to look for a door to somewhere with no people or whatever. Or you could bring in . . . I dunno, a pig maybe?

[museicalmarty]

I mean, I can look, but I'm not sure where I'm gonna find a pig. Though, on the other hand, given the nature of this place, we go looking for a pig farm and we'll probably find one.

[palmerthing]

Next time we run into each other maybe? Or maybe I'll do it on my own, it is a bit messy . . .

[museicalmarty]

Yeah, I'm cooler with you popping down frozen frogs than trying to engulf a whole squealing pig. Or whatever you were planning on doing with it.

[palmerthing]

I keep running into 'oh wait, this is creepy' moments, don't I? Bit hard to avoid really. *Palmer sighs.* I would love to be able to stop it, but that would probably require being human.

[museicalmarty]

[Marty gives him a sympathetic look] You're -- not as creepy to me, personally, as a Fae? Which I know sounds weird, but -- well, look at my life. I know you try your best.

[palmerthing]

Yeah, I'm actually doin' pretty damn well with this being decent thing. Haven't even tested the whole anti-violence thing yet. *He's perhaps a bit more proud of managing that than is comforting, but that's because he knows what he is and what his kind evolved for.*

[museicalmarty]

[Marty's not going to begrudge him his pride -- he's seen the movie, he knows what Things usually do when around people] You are! Though it helps that people have been decent to you first, huh?

[palmerthing]

Yeah, that's definitely helped. People just accept me, in all my weirdness. It's great.

[museicalmarty]

[That gets a full grin] Yeah, it is. Really nice not to have to worry about all your weird shit, past or present. Or future.

[palmerthing]

The future can handle itself for now. *No need to even consider home just yet.*

[museicalmarty]

Heh, yeah. Better to focus on the here and now.

[palmerthing]

Yeah . . . *He thinks for a second.* You got the time? Not that it means much to me, but you'll have to sleep eventually.

[museicalmarty]

You don't sleep? I figured, since you've got the meat. . . [he checks his watch] And it's -- oookay, been longer than I expected. Close to six PM, at least in my world. I left around two looking for Victor.

[palmerthing]

It's pretty easy to only sleep by halves--that's why dolphins don't drown in their sleep. I have to be at least aware enough to know which shape I should be in, so dozing is really the best I can do.

Sounds like you might wanna get going, then.
