Salvage

There's an utter mess scattered over Washed Up Beach today, and a few people who seem to be trying to clean it up. Since the weather in the Nexus is always warm enough to go swimming (except when it isn't) there's also one family already who arrived with a picnic basket and found the beach just isn't suitable for that today. Care to have a look?

(This continues just after this scene. Feel free to talk to anyone there if you want, or just walk up and start poking around. I just ask that no one successfully walk off with any critical parts as there are plans to put that back together. XD )

Ahhh. Yeah, my world's called Earth -- well, in general. There's a lot of countries and states and cities and whatnot all over it. The city I'm from is called Chicago.

*A sharp-toothed smile.* Seems a dull name for a world. Couldn't they think of more than a dessscription?

[Dee shrugs] I didn't name it. And to be fair, that's what it's called in English. Maybe it's something different in another language -- there's plenty of those on the planet.

Smeagol isss not knowing . . . Englisssh? Thisss be Wessstron.

[Dee crinkles her brow] Westron? Mmmm -- either the Nexus is translating, or Westron and English sound pretty much alike. 'Cause I know I'm speaking English.

It can do that? Sss. Powerful place, thisss.

[dee_lorean81]

[Dee nods] Oh yeah. It's a meeting place of all worlds, so it would have to be. Wait until the first time you run into a LOL.

I hope it likes usss, then.

[Dee gives him an encouraging grin] Oh, I don't think it ever really hurts people. Just does odd things to them occasionally. And sometimes they're nice -- Marty, my cousin, got a drink once that let him climb up walls like a spider!

*Smeagol, who can climb down cliffs head-first, does not appear especially impressed.*

[Dee notes his expression] Well, humans can't usually do it. And Victor, my brother, got wings from an Easter egg once.

[. . .right, Middle Earth native] It's a holiday we have where I'm from. People hide brightly-colored eggs and then take their kids out to find them.

I don't remember holidayses anymore.

[Okay, that's one of the most depressing things she's heard today -- and it's been kind of a day of depressing things, what with that exploded AI all over the beach earlier.] Well -- it's coming up in my world. Maybe I can get some eggs and show you how it works.

That would be nice. We remember eggses . . .

[Dee smiles] Okay then, I'll bring some with me next time I'm in the area. [probably hard-boiled ones -- she suspects that Smeagol would end up trying to eat plastic ones and potentially bad things would happen]

Eggses it isss. *He probably would, true.*

[Dee claps] Great! Never tried hunting eggs on the beach before. Or hiding them there, honestly.

Sssand ought to help.

True. . .though you can't make the hiding places too obvious. Kinda misses the point if there's a big pile of sand over the eggs.

It doesss, yesss. *He thinks a moment.* Praps jussst a little one. Or we'll never sssee them again, no . . .

Yeah, don't want that either! [she thinks for a moment, then picks up a rock and tries burying it to see what the ideal egg-hiding lump might be]
