*Mordred has discovered the Sign and has a question to ask.* Have ya ever had the sort o' day where ya wished the universe would just end already? If so, how did ya deal with it?
"If they're really bastards, shouldn't be hard to goad them," Marty nods, then manages a smile. "You're welcome. We try not to judge too much here. Like I said, friends with a vampire. . .and on decent terms with a couple that, in their last life. . .well. Not demon-blooded, but they did more than their fair share of hurting people. They're working on making a better world this time around."
"Thanks," Marty says. "I try. Been around enough assholes to not want to be one." Honestly, being mean makes him feel a bit too -- fae-ish, sometimes.
He nods. "That would be Jack -- or Jokester, I think he prefers these days. His significant other's Jeannie -- pretty sure she runs around in the clown makeup less, though."
Whereas after both you and your best friend/adopted uncle have been kidnapped and tortured by them. . .well, Marty basically just want whatever Mordred's spider and demon sides want to do to bad humans to happen to them.
He nods, smiling. "Yeah, Duela! She is nice." Though the last time he saw her, she was an anxiety-ridden mess about the whole "Jason" thing. He really hopes that worked out okay for her.
"Me too," Marty admits. "She was having some personal stuff going on last time we ran into each other." He sighs. "Her old reality -- didn't treat her particularly nicely either."
"Ooooooh -- right, the writers," Marty says, nodding. "Sorry, just never heard that name for 'em before. . .but yeah, they can be real jerks. You just don't realize it sometimes until you meet the people they're writing about." Like running into Jeannie and her family and getting a better view of just how screwed up the DC comics universe was for everybody.
"I would say you probably would have done better in one of his short stories, but--" Marty shrugs. "Guy's a horror writer. You were doomed from the moment he decided he wanted to write your world. Sucks -- I'm sorry."
*He nods.* I looked in the library here. He's not a bad writer, an' I'd not say he created us in any case. He strengthened us, gave us connections, but the process goes both ways.
He was kind, in his way, when he spoke o' me. Look, if you would. Here sits a baby with blood streaking his fair skin. Here sits a baby weeping his silent, eerie tears. Here sits a baby that knows both too much and too little, and although we must keep our fingers away from his mouth (he snaps, this one; snaps like a baby crocodile), we are allowed to pity him a little.
"Wouldn't be -- well, okay, maybe he would be famous if he was a bad writer, but I don't think he'd have buckets of money from it," Marty corrects himself. "And that's an interesting way of looking at it -- what do you think you did to him on his end?"
He nods slowly. "Poetic. I guess he liked you. I mean, as a character, anyway, and it still sucks what happened to you, but. . .something?" He shrugs. "This sort of thing is always weird for me."
We existed; without us there would be no story. For surely all tales be true somewhere. *A small, somewhat rueful smile.* Even if he was able ta add in helpful things here an' there.
I wish ever-so that folken felt such for me when it was actually o' use, but I'll take what I can get.
"Good point," Marty says, smiling back. "And yeah, if the Nexus has taught me nothing else, it's taught me that. Certainly makes reading a book or watching a movie a bit of a weird experience, knowing I could someday meet the main characters."
He grimaces a little. "Yeah. . .that's all you can do, sometimes."
Marty blinks, then snorts. "Uh -- not exactly. . .Jokester and Jeannie used to be the villains before their universe collapsed. And while I admit I wouldn't exactly want to run into the Joker and Harley Quinn here, them as they are now? They're pretty nice people. Hell, you just told me you're part-spider and part-demon, and I'm still talking to you."
He blinks at the offer. "Um. . .great, now you've got me curious," he admits with a chuckle, rubbing the back of his head. "Okay, yeah, sure." He's read some Stephen King before. He thinks he can take it.
*There's a flash of Red light, leaving skin as dark as night in its wake. Long spider legs burst from his sides. His face slides back, revealing that of a spider. In a couple of seconds a monstrous thing sits where Mordred was--and bows.* (Tada.)

. . . I have a faerie character. Different setting, but I'd never play a cute fairy, just in case

A mishmash of traditional lore and folk songs, mostly.

From:If you think of something I'll write you a post. Or he could meet my faerie, or someone new . . .
From:Works for me! Although I have an idea for an Alice post in these environs first, so. . .
From:I'll see if any of mine want to reply. Or to post, for that matter.
