[There is a DeLorean, heavily modified, doing laps in an empty, paved part of the Nexus. One might wonder what the driver is doing -- practicing for a race? Working on their turning? Just burning rubber because they're bored?

And then one might get a little closer -- and see that there IS no driver.

. . .perhaps it might be fairer to say that the car is bored.]

[Marty] There used to be a fair few of 'em runnin' around the place. . .probably your best bet is the mall again. I KNOW there's a food stall for 'em that sells oil and other power-supply-kinda-things.

[Dee] Probably there's a few shops catering to them too. Gotta have something for everybody!

[palmerthing]

At least I have the force field now, so I don't have to worry too much.

[Marty, grinning] Yeah, that's a total game-changer for you. I'm glad you were able to find that!

[Dee] Yeah -- we should probably look for useful stuff in that mall more often!

[palmerthing]

Yeah, probably. The stuff it sells is really fuckin' useful.

[dee_lorean81]

[Alice] I think we personally got used to things just popping up in random vending machines out here and forgot the place had actual shops.

[Dee] Well, to be fair, if you're getting good stuff from the random vending machine. . .

[Victor, frowning] That -- really depended. I still don't know what to make of that spoon that can fill any bowl with gruel.

[palmerthing]

Great if you're Oliver Twist?

[Victor laughs, making Chester laugh too] I suppose! It is weirdly filling, it just -- tastes awful.

[Dee] Which is a weird thing to have in your magic spoon, but. . . [shrug]

[palmerthing]

Yeah, man, it seems like a weird choice.

[dee_lorean81]

[Alice] To be fair, most everything in the Nexus is at least a little weird. Victor, Doc, and I all came across the same strange camera offering free pictures here once -- Victor got aged down temporarily, I got aged up temporarily, and Doc turned invisible. Temporarily.

[Doc] What really annoys me is that I'd come across that same camera before, and THAT time it just took my picture. I should have known that was a fluke and not let my guard down.

[Dee, giggling] What about the time there were Easter eggs all over the place?

[Victor, smiling] Oh, that was fun. I broke one and got wings for a little bit.

[palmerthing]

Maybe it did something to you that you never noticed?

[dee_lorean81]

[Doc gives him a look that's like 'thank you for the paranoia'] I hope not.

[Alice shakes her head] It's been years -- if it did, it's DEFINITELY worn off by now.

[Dee] Yeah, none of the stuff that directly affected people was permanent. Lucky us.

[palmerthing]

Yeah, if it did something like make you glow when you stand on your head for a week . . . how often do you stand on your head?

[dee_lorean81]

[Doc, now more thoughtful] I'm -- certainly not since I was a lot younger. I don't even know if I could now.

[Dee immediately tries, and immediately falls over] Oof!

[palmerthing]

Well there you are, then. There are a million things it could have done.

[dee_lorean81]

[Doc, helping Dee up] I'm going to try not to think about that.

[Dee] I'm just gonna try and figure out how to do a handstand. Gotta be a trick to it. . .

[palmerthing]

Can't help you there, kid. Palmer was never any good at it.

[dee_lorean81]

[Dee] Guess I just gotta practice then.

[Victor, a little concerned] Perhaps against a wall so you have some support?

[palmerthing]

Up against a wall is definitely a good idea. Or just learn something more useful, one or the other.

[dee_lorean81]

[Alice, shaking her head] You can do things just for fun, you know.

[Dee] And you never know if a weird skill is gonna come in handy. The Marty from the movies saved Doc's life by knowing how to throw a Frisbee.

[palmerthing]

And how exactly did he manage that?

[dee_lorean81]

[Dee, animatedly] Okay, so -- this was in the third movie, so we were all stuck in 1885, and Doc was gonna be shot by this guy named Buford Tannen, right? Right in the middle of the town festival! Marty saw what was happening and grabbed a Frisbie's pie tin and just FLUNG it right at Buford, and he knocked his hand off JUST ENOUGH that the bullet went through Doc's hat instead of his head. Sent the hat flying, but way better than the alternative, right?

[Doc] I certainly think so!

[palmerthing]

I'm surprised it threw off his aim that much.

[dee_lorean81]

[Dee] Well, there was probably some "movie magic" involved, but it was a really small gun, and he'd only just aimed, so. . .

[Marty, smirking] Look, I'm just that awesome.

[palmerthing]

We seem to be a lot of awesome people.

[dee_lorean81]

[Victor] I don't think I'm all that awesome?

[Alice] Victor, what have I told you about not having any self-esteem?

[Dee, hugging his leg] You're plenty awesome.

[Chester, patting his arm] Da!
