There is a little old man in the Nexus today, dark of skin and bright of clothing. He seems entirely unsurprised by being here. He also seems, when the light hits him just right, to have too many limbs to his shadow.

Mr. Nancy is in the house.

[that gets Marty hastily backing up] Yeah, you don't know, do you? Cripes, I hope there isn't. . .

[what looks like a shark fin briefly breaks the water farther out, before disappearing. Doc raises an eyebrow] Looks like the Nexus may have gone for a different kind of dangerous aquatic creature.

[a_nancy]

Oh lovely. Never did like Shark, I'd have much preferred Alligator.

[clockwork_doc]

[Marty backs away further down the dock] I'm not fond of either, honestly.

[Doc, watching the water] He seems fairly far out for now, but then again, I have no idea how fast your average shark swims.

[a_nancy]

Faster than you can, I'm sure.

[clockwork_doc]

[Doc, nodding] Oh, undoubtedly. I'm no championship swimmer. [glances at the gears poking through his knuckles] I don't think I'd make a particularly tasty meal for him, though, in my current state.

[Marty, frowning] He ain't gonna know that until he actually takes a bite out of you, Doc.

[a_nancy]

Sharks rarely know such things.

[clockwork_doc]

[Doc grimaces] And I don't think we should give him the chance to find out. Even if I probably can't lose an arm or leg to shark bite, it would still hurt.

[a_nancy]

Perhaps one fish is enough for you, then.

[clockwork_doc]

[Marty nods] Yeah, I'm cool with that. [looking at the fish] Especially with what it took to bring that monster in.

[Doc, glancing backwards] There's surely something else we can find to do.

[a_nancy]

So one would hope.

I may go home before long. It's been a lot of fun, but an old man gets tired eventually. *He doesn't really, not Mr. Nancy, but he can be lazy sometimes.*

[clockwork_doc]

[Marty shrugs] There's always the glow-in-the-dark ice cream place, if you like ice cream.

[Doc, nodding in another direction] Or the Nexus Mall -- admittedly we go there mainly for the food court, but. . .might be a pleasant diversion before you head out.

[a_nancy]

I think I want to see this ice cream for myself.

[museicalmarty]

[Marty grins] Oh, it's pretty awesome. That whole section of the Nexus is twilight, and the store's blacklit so you can see just how bright the ice cream is. [he heads off in the direction of the store, waving for Nancy and Doc to follow]

*Mr. Nancy, being ever curious, follows with a will.*

[as promised, the sky darkens as they head over to the ice cream place -- not enough so they can't see, but it's definitely a lot closer to night in this part of the Nexus. Which makes the Glowcones ice cream parlor stand out all the more, luminescent paint guiding hungry travelers to its door. Inside, the ice cream literally shines, in a rainbow of available flavors -- some familiar, like chocolate and vanilla, some. . .not so much, like Motor Oil Chip. Marty grins at his companions] I can recommend the Blue Confetti Birthday Cake scoop.

That doesn't sound bad . . . I also like the look of the orange flavor.

[clockwork_doc]

[it is a very bright orange. Doc is actually semi-tempted by the Motor Oil Chip for just a second, just to see what it might be like, but quickly redirects his curiosity to more human flavors] The -- "Purple Power Grape Sorbet" doesn't look half bad either, really. Or the Rainbow Sprinkle Surprise.

I don't trust things that are surprise flavored. I've played that joke too many times myself.

[Doc purses his lips] That's a good point. Maybe I'll just stick with the basics. They seem to have a perfectly ordinary chocolate chip.

[Marty, poking him] Oh come on -- you gotta get something more colorful than THAT!

[Doc, looking at the counter] Well, I assume they have toppings!

[a_nancy]

*Mr. Nancy meanwhile is going with orange.*

[Marty, shaking his head at Doc] Well, I'm going with the fun stuff -- two scoops of the Blue Confetti Birthday Cake in a cone, please.

[Doc, shaking his head back] Chocolate chip is plenty fun! Could I get two scoops of that in a cone -- and do you have any rainbow sprinkles? [there's your fun, Marty]

[a_nancy]

*Mr. Nancy is content with his ice cream. He's easily contented, most of the time. Easy-going guy is Mr. Nancy, so long as you don't do anything really stupid.*

[clockwork_doc]

[Doc and Marty are equally contented with their ice cream, when it comes. Glowcones does have rainbow sprinkles, and Doc happily licks them off his chocolate chip] Mmmm. . .this is nice.

[Marty, digging into his Blue Confetti Birthday Cake with his tongue] Yeah, glad Jack led me around to this place.

[a_nancy]

And Jack is?

[clockwork_doc]

[Marty, looking up with a very blue mouth] Mmm? Oh, another guy we know through here. His reality kind of, um, collapsed.

[Doc, waving a hand] It's being rebuilt, apparently, but given there's not much to it yet -- one central island so far -- he and his come to the Nexus periodically to get supplies and just have somewhere else to go.
