"What necessities do you live by?" There's just enough edge to Telrim's cool tone to hint at her annoyance. As happens more often than she'll admit to her colleagues, the Controller's using the Sign area for personal reasons. She's leaning against the back of an armchair, arms folded. Sitting is for the weak, perhaps. "What facts of life that can't be changed?"

"Oh?" She looks surprised for an instant. "That's... really interesting."

Telrim smirks. "You can't be too careful with all that lava about. But good luck, anyway. Maybe I'll ask you for a demonstration sometime."

"Yes, but that's also why they're no help at all with Kuja. Whatever Garland did to him involved changing his genetics, so it can't be fixed with the Gaian or Terran sort of healing spells. I don't know quite as many of the ones from my own world as I'd like, but I don't think they could fix something like that either."

He nods. "I wouldn't mind that. I'm sure Mikoto will want to make tests and recordings of all sorts..." He chuckles at the thought. While her behavior makes him feel like a bug under glass sometimes, it's just the way she is. And it wasn't like any of her tests had involved something harmful.

She nods. "You'd need something that could rewrite his genetic structure completely. Or at least target the damaged sequences."

Not that she'd know anything like that. Not until it's worth her while to do so.

"That's scientists for you," she agrees, something fond in her tone.

[darker_black]

"Yes, and I think she's looking more for something that will just fix the damage than something that could accidentally transfigure him into an aardvark." He still really only has a vague understanding of genetics, and that mostly focused on a discussion with Mikoto about heredity.

A nod and a bit of a fond smile from Regulus as well. For various reasons, he doubts they'll ever be more than just friends, but he hopes they are at least that. It's always a little hard to tell, with her.

"I think that's more of a risk with magical solutions. Technology is normally more limited in what it's designed to do."

She sighs. It's good to keep tabs on her Nexus contacts, but bigger things are afoot. "I'd better get back to work. It was nice getting to catch up with you, though."

[darker_black]

"I'm still... learning about that," he says, in regards to technology in general. Then he smiles a little and says, "I suppose that's a 'necessity' you can add to the list - learning to adapt."

He nods. "I should return as well, before Mikoto starts thinking her 'test subject' has decided to escape." He chuckles. "It was nice seeing you as well. And I'll remember to invite you along on a trip to the Black Mage Village soon."

[in_the_cracks]

"A very important one," she agrees, a little distantly. They're all going to be tested on that soon: humans and Yeerks. But mostly humans, of course.

"Thanks. I'll look forward to it." She gives him a smile as she straghtens up, then turns for 'home'. "Stay safe, Regulus."

"You too, Natasha." And he'll be on his way back to the Desert Palace.
